Mozilla Labs has launched Prism. The idea is to make the web applications like Gmail, Google Calender, Facebook etc into desktop application.
Prism lets you create desktop shortcuts for the websites that you would want to access by a single click and then opens these websites in their own window frame giving an impression that the application is being accessed from your desktop. Needless to say, the window frame is actually Firefox sans the toolbars!
